IQD Frequency Products' OCXOs deliver the ultimate piezoelectric performance with stabilities down to less than ±1 parts per billion (ppb). An OCXO offers frequency stabilities even tighter than those offered by a TCXO. The frequency drift of the quartz crystal due to temperature shift is reduced by heating the crystal in an oven and so holding the temperature of the quartz at a fixed point. Low phase noise is a critical requirement in today's applications and IQD's OCXOs deliver exceptional phase noise performance down to -113 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz offset and -182 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. Traditionally OCXOs were housed in large through-hole packages with high power consumption; however, the latest technology means that they are now available in smaller SMD packages with much lower power consumption.

IQOV-162

Housed in an industry standard SMD package measuring 14 mm x 9.0 mm x 6.5 mm, IQD's IQOV-162 series OCXO provides frequency stability of ±20 ppb over the full industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The ultra-miniature OCXO is available in frequencies of 10.0 MHz, 12.80 MHz, 19.20 MHz, 20.0 MHz, and 38.88 MHz. It operates from a 3.3 V supply voltage and has an HCMOS 15 pF load output. The IQOV-162 has an excellent phase noise performance of -150 dBc/Hz at 1 kHz offset and -155 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset and an excellent aging performance at ±500 ppb max per year. The OCXO includes a voltage control option to enable the frequency to be adjusted for correction over time with a pullability range of ±3 ppm to ±8 ppm.

The IQOV-162 series is primarily designed to be used in applications such as 4G/LTE base stations, ATM backplanes, femtocells, optical networking, SATA and satellite communications, or wherever a very low profile OCXO is required.

IQOV-164

Housed in an industry standard 5-pin Euro package measuring 36 mm x 27 mm x 13.5 mm, the IQOV-164 series of OCXO delivers exceptional frequency stability performance at ±0.2 ppb over an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. This ultra-high stability OCXO can also be specified to operate over a wider -30°C to +75°C temperature range with only a minor drop in temperature stability performance at ±0.7 ppb. Available over a frequency range from 10 MHz to 40 MHz, this OCXO consumes a maximum of 7.0 watts during warm up which takes only 3 minutes. Designed to operate from a 3.3 V supply and with a sinewave output into 50 ohms load; HCMOS output also available. Phase noise performance is typically -145 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz and -158 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset and the IQOV-164 can be specified with different frequency pulling options to offset the impact of aging. The short-term stability is 1E-11/S and typical aging of ±0.2 ppb per day, ±10 ppb per year depending on the required specification. MTIE/TDEV testing is available for this model.

The IQOV-164 series is primarily designed to be used in applications such as 4G/LTE and 5G base stations, GPS, point-to-point communications, radar, synchronous optical networking (SONET)/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH), synchronous Ethernet, and test and measurement.
