Since 1974, Aspen Electronics has supplied RF and microwave components and test and measurement equipment from more than 50 manufacturers. The company also has a service facility to design, manufacture and test RF and microwave sub-systems and instrumentation products.
APC adds Aspen to its RF and microwave business, established in 2008 following the acquisition of Novacom Microwaves, which includes product lines such as Amcom, API, Copper & Optic, Innovative Power Products and Wolfspeed.
At the beginning of this year, the company acquired First Byte Micro, a franchised and independent component sourcing company, which is now APC Locator.
Aspen Electronics brings the company’s component sales and marketing team up to 30 staff. Richard Hodgson, CEO APC Technology Group, commented that the RF and microwave businesses are complementary: “Aspen Electronics has an excellent reputation, and when combined with our well-established existing RF and microwave division, will position APC as one of the UK’s leading providers of RF and microwave expertise,” he said. “The addition of Aspen’s RF and microwave test and measurement equipment and in-house sub-system testing, will provide our customers with a value-added and enhanced RF and microwave offering from a single vendor, he added.
Last year, Aspen reported revenue of £4.3 million, gross profit of £1.35 million and adjusted pre-tax profits of £0.35 million.
APC Technology Group was established in 1982, has over 80 franchised lines and in 2017, reported a turnover of £15.6million.
